Of the many bushcraft and woodland activities that I enjoy, I am particularly passionate about carving spoons and spend hours around the fire doing just that. They do sell well at Summer fayres but more often clients who come on my courses tend to purhcase one of two before they leave. So, if you do not want to come on a course to learn how to make your own, here is the opportunity to either buy one or maybe entice you to consider coming on a carving course.
The type of wood that I use depends on availability but generally when I source within my woods and nearby, they will be of Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Alder, Sycamore, Willow, Beech, Birch, Hazel and occasionally Lime. They are either tool finished, sanded or a combination of both and oiled with food grade nut or flaxseed oil that soaks deep into the wood to seal and preserve as well as make them look, smell and taste good. I make a variety of styles and sizes from T-Spoons, small scoops, table spoon size, serving size & ladles. The cost will vary between £10 & £30 depending on hardness & durability, size and making time. On request via email, headed as “Chris Spoons” - firstname.lastname@example.org I will then reply with details & dimensions, so you can choose at your leisure.
