ABOUT US - MEET THE TEAM

Chris Elliott

From childhood Chris has been passionate about wildlife and the natural environment and for many years has worked with people exploring and observing the dynamic natural world through environmental sculpture and animation film making. As a practicing artist he was eventually drawn to the world of bushcraft to quench his thirst for woodland knowledge.

Chris says ‘ With all its wealth of opportunity for interacting with nature it also gives you a fascinating insight into the remarkable skills that our ancestors developed to survive. These skills demanded vibrant innovation and it is our creativity that enabled us to thrive and survive. Historically, we haven’t been out of the woods for long and it is not surprising how we instinctively slide back into this world when given the chance’.

Having fond childhood memories and adventures in Foxenhole Lake woods, Ginny is keen to see the woodland used educationally and managed in a sustainable manner. These woods are part of ninety acres of mixed, ancient woodland on farmland owned and managed by Ginnys’ family.

Ginnys’ mother, Joan Carlisle (tel: 01646 651666), provides nearby accomodation facilities at PENQUOIT CENTRE. These are historic longhouses converted into hostel accomodation that are available for small and large groups of people. Details can be found at www.independenthostelguide.co.uk

CAMPING – There is a great campsite a few minutes walk to Foxenhole woods. For those who prefer not to camp in the woods or are intending to stay for longer periods this is a perfect spot for  a base camp.  Details -  www.cresswellbarnfarm.co.uk
